Online Casino Games for Charity

The idea of it throws the whole concept of gambling on its ear; funny thing is, it looks dashing that way. Playing online casino games only to give your winnings away to charity is not without precedent.
Long before online casino game rooms adopted the practice, Barry Greenstein was making a name for himself doing just that: raking in the pots in mostly Texas Hold’em poker games and distributing the money to places like Children Incorporated, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, ILoveSchools.com, March of Dimes, 999 for Kids, and The Golden Angels for Olive Crest. Well, now you too can be an online casino game philanthropist, with the help of many of your (and our) favorite online casino game rooms.

Maybe the most publicized online casino game hall that gives to charities is Golden Palace Online Casino, but their style of charitable giving is to bid extraordinary amounts on auctions for rare oddities of questionable value with the proceeds all going to charity. But this doesn’t empower you, as a player, to be the source or the object of the giving. That your online casino game room donates to charity is nice, yes. But how would you like to be the one, with your online casino game room’s help, that makes the difference?

Hollywood Poker is after that prestige, however, aiming to become the number one online poker room associated with charitable giving. In reaction to the devastation wreaked by Hurricane Katrina, Hollywood Poker, in December of 2005, hosted an online poker tournament whereby they matched donor-player’s entry fees dollar for dollar, with all proceeds (the full $47,950) given to the American Red Cross and the International Hospital for Children.

Hollywood Poker also hosted a land-based tournament benefiting MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) in which 170 players participated in raising $69,000. This amounted to 10% of the buy-ins and re-buys.

Ultimate Bet hosts many online casino games for charity; even online poker too. Though 100% of the proceeds go to charity, the winner of each tournament does get something worthwhile besides that special feeling inside that comes from doing good for someone else: most recently, that took the shape of an Apple iPod Nano. In that particular Pro Bounty Charity Tournament, the player who knocked out poker celebrity Annie Duke also got an Apple iPod Nano. You can count on Ultimate Bet to keep coming up with innovative ways to reward you for your goodwill.

Bodog is another online casino game hall that’s been hosting charitable tournaments for years, with donations to (among others): the Fisher House Foundation, The L.A. Laker’s Youth Foundation, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the Sean McCauley Hope Foundation for Pediatric Cancer, the Humane Society, and the Animal Avengers Organization. As of this writing, Bodog’s latest charitable event will be a grand-scale Casino Royale at a land-based location to raise money for Art of Elysium, a charity that brings creativity and art into the lives of ill and underprivileged children.

Royal Vegas Online Casino and Poker Room makes it possible for players to set up and host their own charitable online casino games for the charity or charities of your choice. They’ll help you promote the tournament and even match a percentage of the funds you raise (based also on the number of players that participate), so your overall donation will be even larger. Royal Vegas, incidentally, also hosts the College Poker Championship, where the players are college students and the prizes are cash scholarships to college.

There are many online casinos and poker rooms that host online casino games for charity. Find out if yours does, and make your online casino game experience that much more rewarding.

What’s the Most You Could Win? The Biggest Lottery, Bingo and Online Slots Jackpots Ever

So where are the best Jackpots to be had in the world, and who has won the most EVER? I’ve looked into this and it is far from a science, but my research says the Biggest Jackpots ever won are as follows:

Biggest Lottery Jackpots:

The biggest Lottery Prize Funds reside not in the United States, but in Spain, where the 2011 Spanish Christmas Lottery had a Prize Fund of £1.2 billion and a Jackpot of £587 million. The way the Spanish Christmas lottery works is to generate lots of winners, so last year 180 winners received around £3.25 million each.

The biggest Single ticket Jackpot Winner in the world is one of our own – Colin and Christine Weir of Scotland won £161.7 million in July 2011. They won a multiple rollover Euro Millions Jackpot and were the only winners. So far they have bought a new house in 23 acres on the outskirts of their home town Largs in Scotland, employed a cook and sponsored a local boy racer Gregor Ramsay for a career in throwing cars around a track. The largest headline jackpot of $365 million occurred on February 18, 2006 and was won by a single ticket in Nebraska. It was shared by eight people who worked for a meatpacking plant. They elected to receive their winnings in cash, sharing $177,270,519.67 (after taxes), as the top prize in Powerball and Mega Millions draws are based on an annuity rather than just straight cash – those American Lottery marketers!

Biggest Bingo Jackpot:

Britain is the land of Bingo, and the biggest ever win at bingo was in 2008 when a 38 year old cleaner Soraya Lowell, from Lanarkshire won a huge £1.2 million. This beat the previous biggest bingo win of £1.1 million that was won by Christine Bradfield in a bingo club in Merthyr Tydfil in Wales. Soraya has been back in the news recently after being sued for Bankruptcy by South Lanarkshire Council over unpaid Council Tax debts. Go figure.

Online Slots and Casino Jackpots

Online Jackpots regularly get into the millions, and can be won at the push of a button instead of just once a week. They are much harder to verify, but for casino type games, but the generally accepted top dog is a student from Norway who won £9.5 million on Bettsons Mega Fortune game in 2009.

Casino game Mega Moolah has paid out a stupendous £5.3m to Georgios M, a small business owner from Greece who hit the Jackpot in 2011.

In the UK, the enigmatically named “Taaloo1” won £3,9 million on the Clover Rollover Slots Jackpot game on Christmas Eve 2010 via the Bet 365 website. Now that must have been a Christmas to remember!

Play Online Slots – Avoid These Errors! Part 3

Online slot myths are based around the idea that you can tell when a machine is going to payout. When playing online slots however you can’t as they are a game of chance.

In part 1 and 2 we looked at ways to win and now were going to look at some myths you can avoid that will help you cut losing plays.

To understand online slot machine myths and how they have become so common you need to understand how the random number generator works.

The RNG

The numbers produced by the Random Number Generator in any slot machine are not truly random but are the result of a mathematical formula.

If you knew the formula used and the value of the last random number generated, you would be able to calculate the next random number but you won’t be able to achieve this here’s why:

The RNG is a series of codes written into the game chip, it is an electronic program that generates numbers and it does so at a rate of least 100 numbers every second. In any online slot machine, each one of the numbers corresponds to a result on the reels.

For the player, playing online slot machines therefore it is a random choice from a range of numbers that will determine whether they win or lose.

You simply can’t BEAT The RNG

The RNG is always generating numbers-whether the machine is being played or is sitting idle. The chip is generating numbers at a rate of over 100 per second as stated earlier and this is important point to remember when playing an online slot machine.

When you press the spin button the computer chip retrieves the number that is generated at that EXACT instant.

Even if the programmer of the slot machine (who knows the sequence in which the numbers are being generated), tried to beat it, by the time he calculates what the next number will be, the machine will have run away from him – Computers crunch numbers faster than humans!

While the RNG is not totally random by the nature of its programming from a player’s point of view it is and it is impossible to beat it, to the player it is as good as random because he can’t beat the calculation.

The fact that many players don’t really understand how the RNG works has led to the common playing errors listed below.

1. A player hits the jackpot on the machine you just left; you could have won

No you could not.

The RNG is continuously cycling through numbers even when the machine is not being played. These numbers correspond to the stops on the wheel that display the winning or losing symbols that are seen when the reels stop.

When you hit the spin button, the RNG picks the combination at that given microsecond. If you had stayed at the machine.

You would have had to play at the exact hundredth of a second that the other player did his spin and when playing online slot machines that’s highly unlikely.

2. You can tell the odds of winning by counting the symbols

The RNG generates a number for each spin.
The number corresponds to the symbols on the Reel.
There can be hundreds of Virtual stops on each wheel even though you see a fewer symbols.

For example, you could see 20 symbols on each wheel of a three-reel machine. You figure 20 x 20 x 20 = 8,000 combinations and your chance of hitting the jackpot is 1 in 8000.
The reality when you play however the RNG may use 256 stops for each wheel which makes the odds 256 x 256 x 256 =16,777,216 combinations.

Being able to generate millions of combinations means that the odds of winning are small and the reels are just decoration, nothing more.

3. Casinos change the odds of machines

The slot machines have a computer chip in them that determines the pay back percentage – these are set in advance.

In order for a casino to change the pay back, they would have to change the programming of the chip.

With regulation and the fact that the chip is preset with odds of payout means the casino wins anyway.

4. A machine that has not been paying is due to hit

When playing an online slot machine many players assume the longer a machine is played and it doesn’t payout the closer it is to paying out a jackpot.

The reality is however that there is no way to determine if a machine is due to pay. Each spin is a random occurrence and has no bearing on what has happened previously and the machine is programmed over the longer term so it can a long time without paying, or pay two jackpots in quick succession.

Avoid these myths and play with the strategies outlined on this website and maybe you could be one of the lucky players to win one of the major jackpots.

So there you have it in 3 parts all you need to get the odds of playing online slots in your favor as much as possible. Now you have read these articles play online slots and good luck and we hope you are the lucky one to win and win big!
